You might have heard of the quote, “living like there is no tomorrow”. Steve Jobs once suggested to graduates to look into the mirror and ask themselves, “if this is the last day on Earth, would you have lived the way you did yesterday?”. If you have answered negatively consecutively, something has got to change.
On the other hand, it is also frowned upon in the Singaporean society to “live as if there is no tomorrow”. Key ideas such as planning for the future and saving for rainy days are the familiar refrains which I’m sure many of us have heard before.
It is an interesting dilema, no less, each with it’s own set of pros and cons. What is even more important is that we get to live our lives the way we want to, not by some “state sanctioned” plan. Why follow behind coat-tails when you can blaze your own trail.
