What quickly become evident to me was, that there exists no perfect blogging platform. Eventually I went with Jekyll, after having tried and dismissed several (more popular and mainstream) solutions. In this post I will document the considerations that lead me to pick Jekyll, how I got Jekyll up and running exactly the way I wanted, and why you should or should not do as I did.
A great post on his consideration for a new Blog engine—Jekyll—and some comments about the system, should you be interested in adopting it.
In fact, after reading this post, I’m motivated to transition my blog to a simpler HTML static site. This will allow me to host the blog onto alternative hosts and have it mirrored with little difficulty or inconsistency.
This post is from that same conversation. I start with “nothing to write about” and in five minutes of casual conversation I have something to share. It’s like magic. But it’s not. It’s called writing.

I’m reading the Internet commentary out there, and I see that many posters commented about the “foreign funding” aspect of the Online Citizen issue. (Gazetted political associations are not allowed to receive funding from foreigners).
This is a red herring. Or a non-issue. It just isn’t the point.
Seriously, it costs peanuts to run a website. (And that is what The Online Citizen mainly is - a website).
I agree with him on this point totally. I personally didn’t see what the significance of foreign funding is at all.
I love his vision of the Singapore political blogosphere:
An amorphous, informal network among the active bloggers, so that they interconnect themselves with plenty of hyperlinks, “Friends”, “Likes”, blog comments etc.
