This annoying thing that replaced my “ring ring” ringtone has caused a stir with my callers once in a while. Today, I’ve finally decided that I should put an end to this annoyance and did my best to find a way to turn it off.

Through crowd-sourcing, as Google yielded me no results on my GPRS connection, Twitter and Facebook users gave my helpful suggestions to try. Not all of them worked but an easy solution did surface.

For those of you who are looking to terminate SingTel’s colour-me-tone service, here are the steps.

1. Dial *590 and listen to the voice prompt.
2. Select your language and then listen out for the option to terminate account.
3. Dial your selection and receive transaction processing notification voice prompt.
